Come join us at for a hands-on Apple Tree Pruning Workshop, hosted by the Rochester Folk Art Guild and the Cornell Cooperative Extension! Learn the art of pruning apple trees to ensure a bountiful harvest. Pruning is one of the most important parts of orchard maintenance. Pruning is also an ideal time to scout your orchard for pest issues and orchard health.
Led by David Barnet, who has been tending our orchard for over 50 years, and co-teacher Alex Ragus, these workshops are your ticket to orchard mastery and a whole lot of fun. The workshop is interactive, teaching you the art and science behind proper pruning of apple trees and winter pest scouting with plenty of time for hands-on practice.
You may bring your own pruning shears (recommended) or take turns with the pairs provided. Workshop will be outdoors, so please dress for the weather.
This in-person event will take place at Upper Hill Road, Middlesex, NY. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your gardening skills and enjoy a day outdoors surrounded by beautiful apple trees. Reserve your spot now!
Both Orchard workshops are offered on a sliding scale donation basis, with a suggested contribution of $30 per person for each workshop. Your support helps us continue offering valuable educational programs to our community.
